Koi
A geometric koi study exploring how overlapping planes can suggest delicate fins and a familiar patterned body.
This squirrel study uses a lifted tail and forward-facing pose to give a geometric illustration a sense of character. The archive includes the standalone artwork and a laptop presentation of the finished image.

Use the tail, pose, and color contrast to make a simplified animal immediately recognizable.
A standalone squirrel illustration and a device presentation of the finished artwork.
The oversized tail establishes the composition, while the small paws and alert face keep the animal recognizable. Warm cream, tan and brown planes contrast with the flat teal field.
The device mockup shows how the artwork reads as a screen image. The standalone view keeps the focus on the faceted construction, subtle surface detail and shadow beneath the animal.
This study shows how a few strong visual decisions can carry character. The tail establishes the silhouette, while a restrained background keeps the faceted animal in focus.
