“Have you ever found yourself in a new place with no idea how to find what you need? A good meal, a rest room or a subway entrance? Are there places in your own neighborhood you know nothing about?”

Tiptags approached me to help them design the UI & UX for their social media application, for both iOS and Android. I worked closely with their founder to understand the problems he was solving, so I could translate it into a clean and easy to use product.

TipTags is a platform and mobile app that uses new technology to allow users to leave short geo-tagged messages to their TipTags friends. The geo-tagged messages are meant to give intelligence about the specific area the TipTags tag is dropped. You can drop a TipTags tag based on your current location, or drop it on a map. Users have the option to include a photo or links in their TipTags tag. It’s an easy way to share and learn information about places.

“Let’s see if there is a more obvious icon we can use for the Emergency Button. SMS doesn’t say emergency. Try a few ideas. One might be an ! after SMS. So: SMS! But you can probably think of something better.”
